Onepager of the Week: Frank’s Shoe Repair

Shoes have been repaired by Frank’s in San Francisco since 1934. While the team at Frank’s is hard at work, their website is marketing their business for them.

Why we like it

Frank’s Shoe Repair is a San Francisco institution that has been repairing footwear and leather goods for nearly 70 years. We’re happy a company with such a track record (sorry for the pun!) chose Onepager to build their first-ever website. Their site is fairly basic, but it’s professional and effectively communicates what their shop does and how to do business with them. We like the site because of this straightforwardness and lack of heavy marketing and branding. In many ways, it’s refreshing.

Onepager of the Week: Miyako Japanese Restaurant

Miyako is a Japanese restaurant that makes some very photogenic sushi and Japanese plates. We’re sure they taste great too!

Why we like it

Miyako Japanese Restaurant is a eatery in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Their Onepager is pretty simple with the goal of showing a good selection of their impressive and colorful food creations. That’s done with a couple of nice rolls in the background. The one with avocado on it looks like some sort of insect, right? They also have a nice gallery in the page that gives more color and texture to the site. We also like their simple color scheme and of course the Google Map showing where to find them.

Onepager of the Week: John Street Garage

John Street Garage uses some gorgeous photography to create a great simple website. Their beautiful pics help make them our site of the week!

Why we like it

John Street Garage is from Auckland, New Zealand (we’ve been getting a lot of love from the Kiwis!) that specializes in “home treasures and nest feathering”. That sounds like interior decorations to us and the excellent photos they use make that obvious enough.

Onepager of the Week: Three Dog Bakery

Three Dog Bakery brings great branding and photos to their Onepager and is now our featured site of the week!

Why we like it

Three Dog Bakery of San Diego, CA bakes treats for man’s best friend. Dogs (and their owners) can choose from cakes, cookies, and various biscuits to “woof” down. We must say, even for our human palates, their selection looks quite tasty!

Onepager of the Week: Saving Our Seashore

A simple site with a simple cause: help with the restoration and preservation of the shorelines hit hard by hurricane Sandy.

Why we like it

Saving our Seashore is an organization that aims to protect the beaches of the northeastern United States. Through their site, they sell merchandise whose proceeds are donated to non-profits that take direct action to preserve the coast.

Onepager of the Week: MacGregor Media

Several small details help give this Onepager a high end look and make it our site of the week!

Why we like it

MacGregor Media is a marketing company in New Zealand. We were drawn to their site because of the very nice aesthetics and the premium look of the site. The first thing we notice is the large header image with their elegant icon and wordmark. The use of primarily black and white, along with a highlight color, help with that high-end look. Also very nice is the background, with the faintly patterned diamonds.

Onepager of the Week: World Beat Drumming

A gorgeous site for a Canadian drumming school and group of performers is our Onepager of the Week

Why we like it

World Beat Drumming is a very nice looking site with a variety of content that tells you all you need to know about their musical business. The thing that catches your eye immediately is the earth-toned world map background. You could almost see that map on the surface or side of one of their drums and the image sets the experience off on the right foot. The colors of the rest of the page coordinate very well with the background.

Onepager of the Week: Joyful Stitches

A custom website for a talented custom handmade goods creator is this week’s Onepager of the Week.

Why we like it

Joyful Stitches is a website for the very talented handmade craft creator Barb Thompson from Pittsburgh, PA. Barb’s site has a nice, handcrafted look that compliments the work she showcases. We like how the focus is on the photos of her pieces thanks to the muted color and design of the rest of the page.

Onepager of the Week: Off-Centered Film Fest

This film festival used Onepager’s content types creatively to build a unique site for their upcoming event.

Why we like it

It always amazes us how people stretch the capabilities of Onepager and the site for the upcoming Off-Centered Film Fest is a great example of that. The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and Dogfish Head Brewery put this site together and the team creatively used text-based graphics to create some interesting titles for each of the sections of the site. We never really anticipated the images module would be used for that, but it works great!

Onepager of the Week: Highline Autosport

This gorgeous simple site from Highline Autosport makes good use of many of Onepager’s great features.

Why we like it

The Highline Autosport site was created by First Page Auto and they did a phenomenal job. Highline focuses on European cars, so it’s natural the site is dark and looks extra sexy. First Page used some great features in the editor. They modified the CSS to give the content background rounded corners, a border, and a drop shadow. Those are very subtle design decisions, but look awesome.
