WHAT ARE THE BACH FLOWER REMEDIES?

The Bach Flower Remedies were discovered by Dr. Edward Bach in the 1920s. Dr. Bach was a highly respected Harley Street bacteriologist, physician and pathologist. He believed that one’s emotional state plays a vital role in their health, both physical and mental. He developed a system of 38 remedies which were prepared from flowers and plants which work on one's mindset and emotions rather than their disease or symptoms.

The Bach Flower Remedies are safe for the whole family, including infants, pregnant women, the elderly and even pets and plants. They are non-toxic and have no side effects.  They address a wide range of emotions spanning from anxiety and depression to severe trauma and mental anguish. They are internationally recognized and highly respected throughout the world.  Notably, they are safe to be taken in conjunction with medication with no contra-indications.

You may have seen the little yellow bottles of Bach Rescue Remedy in your local chemist, or even supermarket? So many people know about Rescue Remedy because it is a remarkably effective in emergency situations but not many know that a further 38 individual remedies exist which can be tailored to an individual’s needs for each different situation or emotion they may be experiencing.

HOW DO THE FLOWER REMEDIES WORK?

The flower remedies are a form of natural medicine and as such they treat the individual and not just their illness or symptoms. They work specifically on the emotional state of the individual and help them to feel better with regards to their condition by helping to improve their frame of mind. They are tailored to people specifically in relation to how they are feeling at a certain time. So, two people with anxiety, for example, may benefit from different remedies to treat the same condition because the cause of their anxieties stem from different situations which are specific to them. Dr. Bach believed that by flooding the person with the ‘good’ they needed, the ‘bad’ they were feeling would be pushed out and he found that specific plants and flowers had this effect.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A CONSULTATION?

Consultations can be carried out in person, by phone, email or using WhatsApp Messenger. The initial consultation usually takes somewhere around 50 minutes during which we will discuss your emotional state in relation to various aspects of your life. The aim of this consultation is to help you identify the emotional issues you would like to deal with and then to prescribe a mix of remedies which is tailored to you personally. The remedies that are included in your mix will be explained to you so that you can actively understand how and why they may help you.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I BOOK A CONSULTATION?

I would usually advise a course of at least three appointments one month apart. This can be especially useful when seeking to dissolve deeper issues. The way it works is that as blocks disappear other things might be show up and so a new custom remedy may be required. If you are not sure if Bach Flower Remedies are for you or if you have been taking them for some time but just need some guidance then a one off appointment should suffice at this moment in time.

I HAVE MY CUSTOM REMEDY BUT HOW DO I USE IT?

Custom flower remedies in a bottle are usually taken by placing a few drops on the tongue or they can also be added to a glass of water and sipped. You can also put your custom flower remedies into your bath water, mix them with creams and lotions or they can be made into a simple but effective spray. Sometimes the impact can be instant, although usually the effect of the custom flower remedy can appear to be very subtle as negative emotions are gently dissolved. You may feel a little more emotional than usual but this will soon pass as stuck emotions are released. It’s always very worthwhile to keep a journal whilst you are actively using a custom flower remedy. This will help you clarify your thoughts and feelings and is useful to compare your state of wellbeing between consultations so that you can clearly see your progress whilst you are using the custom flower rememdies.
